Dressing for your Pregnancy

Pregnancy is an exciting time filled with big changes. One of the most obvious changes will be your body.  As your body changes to accommodate your baby (or babies!), you will need to adjust your styling in order to look and feel your best.  Our head stylist Grace has these pregnancy styling recommendations.

Grace divides the pregnancy into three separate styling phases.  Phase 1 is when your body starts on its transformation and typically you lose your waist and your breasts fill out.  This tends to be the most challenging time for most women as they feel that they look fat rather than pregnant.  Many tears have been shed until Grace styles them and once again they feel beautiful.
Most women can wear their basic bottoms still but you should invest in one good pair of maternity jeans, David Lerner Maternity Leggings and SaintGrace Fold-Over Pants.  The tops that work best are the A-line silhouette, loose fit & flare and the off-the-shoulder relaxed fit tops.
Phase 2 style comes when the baby bump starts to show this is when Grace transitions her clients into fitted clothes as it is time to showcase and celebrate the belly.  This is the time that the woman should look and feel sensual, feminine and be a proud momma-to-be.  Here are the general guidelines: the woman needs to go up a size or two in fitted clothes, chose super-soft, stretch fabric.  Grace’s go to designers for this are Feel The Piece, Saint Grace and Torn by Ronny Kobo.

Phase 3 in pregnancy styling typically follows the last trimester.  This is when you want to look for tops and dresses that are empire or no waist.  In the summer months Grace loves to style women in an empire maxi dress.  The WiltClothing line offers numerous stylish on-waist tops and dresses that look amazing on and transition well to after the baby is born.
The what to wear to a semi-formal or formal event is one of Grace’s favorite things to do for our pregnant customers.  She loves a stunning mini, empire waist of circle hem dress with sexy heels.  She has styled pregnant celebrities for the red carpet.  This look will win you rave reviews.
